DOUGLAS EASTON is a member of the Travelers' Century Club and has visited 192 countries on its list as of June 2010. He has previously organized and led tours to every continent except Antarctica and has been a travel addict since childhood.

Doug is fluent in French, has conversational Italian and Spanish and basic German and Portuguese. He received his B.A. in international politics from Wesleyan. He is the author of two novels, The Midas Accord and A Time For Treason (the latter published under the pseudonym Doug Everett), both published by Penguin under its Signet imprint. Doug also founded, as well as wrote the first two (1992 and 1995) editions of, European Gourmet, the guide to Europe’s 200 best restaurants.

A devotee of fitness and proper nutrition, Doug runs and works out with weights daily. However, he has been known to weaken when suddenly confronted by chocolate truffles, his personal Kryptonite. A history buff, he also enjoys gardening, cooking and playing elaborate practical jokes on his friends (who invariably retaliate in kind). Doug was raised in Maine, Philadelphia and France and now lives in Los Angeles when he's not traveling.

JOHN  ZIEGLER
is a native Angeleno. He earned his B.A. from Pepperdine University and brings to Douglas Easton Travel nearly twenty years of experience in the hotel, airline and travel industries.

An amateur archeologist, he has participated in three excavations in the Middle East.

John is a member of the Travelers' Century Club, has visited 115 countries listed on its list as of June 2010 and is passionate about travel anywhere. However, if pushed to decide, his favorite places are probably the Middle East, South America and Africa. He loves Paris, Rome and Madrid as well.

JEREMY KNOWLES and STEVE KOCH hail from South Africa and Namibia, respectively. After completing their studies at the University of Cape Town, they became teachers at South Africa's oldest high school. Though they loved the experience, restlessness set in after twelve years, so they decided to explore southern Africa in a 4 x 4. They soon realized that in travel, they'd found their true avocation.

Both Jeremy and Steve became involved in tourism in 1997. Both are licensed as National Guides by the South African government. In addition to escorting guests all over South Africa, they have led many tours to the neighboring countries of Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Swaziland and Mozambique.

Jeremy and Steve now reside in Cape Town and, along with Craig Barrowman, are the designated leaders of Douglas Easton Travel tours to South Africa.

CRAIG BARROWMAN
is proud to be a native South African. After graduating from high school in Port Elizabeth, on the Indian Ocean coast, he studied social science at university. During the challenging but exciting build-up to democracy in 1994, he worked in human rights and development.

He subsequently traveled and explored life beyond South Africa’s borders for the first time. This liberating and life-changing experience also awakened in him a passion for the beauty of his homeland, so much so that in 2000, upon returning to Cape Town from his three-year adventure abroad, he embarked on a career in tourism and hasn't looked back since.

When not traveling for work or leisure, Craig can usually be found relaxing on a beach or climbing a mountain. He enjoys theatre, enjoying Cape Town's myriad restaurants and the occasional club night.

MARCELO MANSILLA feels fortunate to hail from, and reside in, Buenos Aires, one of the most beautiful and interesting cities in the world.

Marcelo studied tourism during his time at the university in Buenos Aires. Apart from his mother tongue, Spanish, his English is fluent (having begun studying the language when he was seven years old). He also received a degree from the Cambridge Institute of British Culture in Buenos Aires.

Marcelo enjoys photography; ferreting out unknown culinary gems in Buenos Aires' fast-changing restaurant scene; and discovering new delights and sights to share with visitors. If it's happening there, he'll know about it!

MARIO PAEZ's passion for travel began at age 4, when we he and his family moved from his native Uruguay to Sydney, Australia. Since then, he's been seeking out new and exciting places to share with others... to date he's visited 120 cities around the world, including all major cities within "my adopted paradise of Australia." Mario rates Tasmania's Freycinet Peninsula among the most beautiful places on Earth.

Mario is as much at home swimming in a billabong in tropical Darwin (in the Northern Territory) as he is enjoying a performance in Sydney's superb Opera House.

Fluent both in Spanish and English, Mario's second passion is good food, and is our premier authority for introducing our guests to Australia's absolutely best meals, from grilled barramundi in Melbourne to wichetty grubs in the Outback.

BARRY WARNER was born and raised in Sydney, where he now resides. He considers Australia to offer some of the world's best nature experiences, from the jungles and rain forests of the north to the jagged crags of Tasmania's Cradle Mountain range. He has photographed animals ranging from placid kangaroos, wombats and echnidas to the decidely less gentle Great White shark.

Barry enjoys horseback riding in the mountains and in the Outback; spelunking in the Jenolan Caves; sailing on the Great Barrier Reef; and swimming in the azure waters of Western Autralia.

That said, Barry's two favorite Down Under locations are Sydney and Melbourne, both of which offer visitors and locals alike superb cuisine, stunning scenery and phenomenal night life.
