Johannesburg, South Africa
Today we arrived in Johannesburg, South Africa. The guests on the first of our two 2007 South African tours (the other is in September) haven't yet departed the US, but we always try to arrive early to make sure that everything's prepared and ready.
On the 11th, we'll meet our guests in Cape Town, where we'll stay for five days before visiting both the magnificent Kalahari and Namib Deserts in Namibia. We'll follow this with a stay at Singita Private Game Reserve in eastern South Africa, which arguably offers the best game viweing in the world (in indescribably luxurious style).
Johannesburg is a city in turmoil, and most tourists merely pass through on the way to somewhere else. There is a real effort underway, however, to build it into something to be proud of. The city is now attempting to host the 2010 World Cup Games... whether this effort will succeed remains to be seen.
We won't have too much time to explore Johannesburg as there's always a lot of last-minute touches to take care of to perfect each tour. We're excited about sharing the best of southern Africa with a neat group of adventurers who shortly will be winging their way east for the experience of a lifetime.
