Our three nights on Mauritius have passed in a blink. As elegant and sophistocated as the Comoros are undeveloped, Mauritius is to South Africa what the Carribbean or Hawaii is to the US.
The land is a maniciured, green chunk of deep green poking out of the cerulean Indian Ocean. Perfectly alighned fields of succulent sugarcane stretch up the slopes of the mountains which bisect the island like a green spine. Mango, pineapple, guava and papaya cultivation is everywhere.
Most of the tourist sites of Mauritius can be seen in a long day of sightseeing by car. Highlights include the beautiful coastline; the capital, Port-Louis; and the lovely botanic gardens south of Port-Louis .
