Kuwait has a palpable edge to it. People are surprised to meet tourists, and they don't smile as in the other emirates. We saw no evidence of the Iraqi invasion, and everything seems new and/or rebuilt. American fast food joints like McDonald's and KFC are everywhere.
Nobody has been unfriendly, but the vibe is a little unsettling, and we're looking forward to moving on.
