Miami
Our day trip to Miami Beach somehow morphed into three days. Between work, we went off our diets to enjoy the great Cuban food at Yuca on Lincoln Road.
John and I stayed at the Beach Plaza Hotel, a fantastic and astonishingly reasonably priced art-deco gem on Collins Ave, in a super location only a block from the beach. The rooms are spacious and well-designed (Sam, one of the owners, has an incredible eye), a fabulous bar and unusually helpful staff. Highly recommended!   Heading home to LA tomorrow for a few days before taking off again to Texas. Political note: We deeply empathize with former Congressman Foley for having become a card-carrying homosexual as a direct and inexorable result of the abuse he sustained as a child... (the announcement of his sexual orientation and his having been abused as a child were inescapably announced jointly by his attorney). The immediate alcohol addiction therapy was a nice touch as well which of course nobody we know believes was a political move. All of that dreck from the self-loathing gay Republican is not Foley's first stab at utterly nauseating hypocrisy. He'd already exuded a lifetime's worth with this classic about Bill Clinton, expounded to the St. Petersburg Times during the peak of the Monica Lewinsky scandal: "It's vile. It's more sad than anything else, to see someone with such potential throw it all down the drain because of a sexual addiction." Past Travel Blogs:
