Ma'in, Jordan

From our room at the Six Senses Evason Ma'in in Jordan, we have a spectacular view of the Dead Sea, framed by the rocky wadi that descends to an altitude of 1,000 feet below sea level. As the sun slowly sets, casting a soft golden glow on the dry, baked earth, the glimmering lights of Jerusalem become visible beyond the sea.
 
We're on the final leg of our Middle East jourmey and are spending the last couple of days pampering ourselves at this newly opened hotel, located at the confluence of several natural thermal springs.  The centerpiece of the resort is the luxurious spa: its natural, spring-fed pool lies beneath a waterfall which cascades down the mountain face. Both John and Doug agree that they've received their absolute BEST massages ever here at this resort.....so much so that we've returned on each day of our visit!
 
Enjoying our Shirley Temples (NOTE: there may be one or two minor inaccuracies in this blog) on the outdoor bar's colorful couches, surrounded by glowing lanterns and Bedouin decor, we've decided to do absolutely NOTHING! Normally we'd participate in any number of activities available to us, such as a wadi walk, swimming in the Dead Sea, parasailing, hiking, etc, but we think a few days to soak in some sun, breathe fresh air, and enjoy the Spa will constitute the perfect ending to our Middle East saga, one of our gretaest adventures to date.
